What Can You Expect At Onboarding?

  • We will have a 30 minute Discovery Call to talk about your financial challenges, goals and needs.

  • I will provide you with a service recommendation.

  • You will upload your last three 3 months business bank, credit card and loan statements to the my secure Client Portal using third party application Financial Cents. I will provide you with instructions on how to do this.

  • Within 24 hours, you will get a pricing quote.

  • When you accept it, we will sign a Client Agreement Form and you will remit payment.

  • I begin work. In the beginning some key onboarding items will be to provide Accountant access to QuickBooks Online, provide view-only access to online banking, and continued use of the secure Client Portal.

  • We will remain in communication throughout the process using your preferred method of communication.

  • Congratulations, you are on your way to getting back valuable time that you can spend with your family and growing your business.

What should I expect each month?

  • On a weekly basis, your books will be worked on. We will categorize your transactions that appear on your QuickBooks Online bank feed. To ensure that your books remain accurate, we will be in communication with you in the event a transaction is not clear.

  • At the end of the month, we will ask you for all of your monthly business bank account statements in order to reconcile your accounts on QuickBooks. This process allows me to close out the month and produce accurate monthly financial statements such as Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet.

  • I will email these statements to you by the 10th day of the month. For example, please expect August’s financial statements by September 10th.

  • If Accounts Receivable services are included in your package, then on a recurring basis, we will process, send out, and manage all of your customer invoices. You will provide us with the pertinent information, and we will do the rest.

  • If Accounts Payable services are included in your package, then on a recurring basis, we will process, submit payment, and manage all of your vendor bills. You will provide us with the pertinent information, and we will do the rest.

  • If monthly consultations are included in your package, we can arrange for a phone call at the end of the month to review your financial statements so you can better understand them and help optimize your business. Statements and reports can be customized that suits your needs. Some reports that can be of use are Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flows Statement, Accounts Receivable Aging Detail and Accounts Payable Aging Detail.

What if I need your services more frequently than monthly?

  • At Check Bookkeeping, LLC, we strive for excellent customer service. If you need a higher frequency of services we can absolutely meet this need. We can have a conversation about how we can support you.

When and how will I send sensitive documents to you?

  • To get the job done, we will need your bank, credit card and loan statements each month when they are available, or sent to you, by the financial institution.

  • The recommended workflow is for the client to provide me with “view-only” access to your online banking systems so I can download the statements. If this option is not preferred by you, or your bank does not allow it this access, then you will need to upload the bank, credit card and loan statements to my secure Client Portal using third party application Financial Cents.

  • You will be provided with access to the secure Client Portal at client onboarding. It will be the same Portal used when I provided you with the quote.

  • Bank statements may be ready at different times of the month depending on each account’s Statement Cycle. This happens frequently with Credit Card statements since statement dates can be variable. We will need the statements to be sent to us on a monthly basis. Please provide them to us as soon as you receive it. Please expect a reminder email toward the end of the month.

  • Depending on your bank, we can support you with updating your statement dates to make things easier for you.

I have not filed taxes last year because my books were not accurate?

  • You would need and should request bookkeeping clean up services

  • We can provide you with a quote to take care of the project. We will need the following from you (I will support you with each step):

    • We need to be invited to your QuickBooks Account

    • Your Bank Feed needs to be updated or connected

    • You will need to provide us with all of last year’s business bank, credit card, and loan statements

  • After we are done, you will receive a December 31st Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet financial statements. You will be able to use this to file your Schedule C and other tax forms.

My books are not clean. Will you help me get them ready for taxes?

  • Yes! You would need Bookkeeping Clean Up Services.

  • We can go as far back as you would like. Our recommendation is to start from January of the tax year up to December.

  • Some clients need prior year tax returns amended or filed. We are able to go back previous years as you need us to.

  • We can provide you with a quote to take care of the project. We will need the following from you (I will support you with each step):

    • Invite us to your QuickBooks Online account

    • Update or connect your Bank Feed

    • Provide us with all of your business bank, credit card, and loan statements for the months we are handling for your bookkeeping clean up services.

  • After we are done, you will receive and updated Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet, and access to a set of books that are ready for continued business!

Do you provide tax planning and preparation services?

  • While we do not provide tax preparation services, we are able to refer you to a trusted CPA or EA firm that can help you with tax planning and preparation.
